KEKRI: Trick or Die — a Finnish folk-horror feature

KEKRI: Trick or Die — Offer a drink. Or pay with blood. A seasonal folk-horror feature.

The old night is coming back.

A cabin table after a feast, candles burning

Section I — The Old Night

Before Halloween,
there was Kekri.

Kekri came before the costumes became jokes.

Before the dead were decoration.

Before winter closed the door.

It was a night of food, drink, masks, desire — and visitors at the threshold.

Then people stopped believing.

The night did not.

A lone wooden cabin glowing in a black forest

Section II — The Cabin

The cabin was warm
when they arrived.

Wine on the table.

Candles in the windows.

Old stories told for fun.

Old names spoken without fear.

Then someone knocked.

Section III — The Rule

There is only one way
through the night.

Everyone used to know it.

No one at the cabin did.

A glass was left untouched.

A door was opened too late.

And something old came in.

Someone is at the door

It is late. You did not hear them walk up.

A horned silhouette standing in a doorway under cold moonlight

Section IV — The Visitor

He is not a killer.
He is an old law.

He does not rush.

He does not explain.

He waits at the door.

He knows who laughed.

He knows who forgot.

He knows what the night is owed.

A close portrait — the face of the old night

Section V

The old night
was listening.

Not every warning sounds like fear.

Not every story stays buried.

Not every door should be opened after dark.

By the time they understood the rule, the night had already chosen.

Section VI — The World

Warm rooms.
Cold rules.

Candlelight.

Wine.

Wet leaves.

Old wood.

Black trees.

A laughter inside.

The world stays real. The night makes it wrong.

Section VII — The Rule of Kekri Night

Do you know the rule
of Kekri night?

Before winter, before silence, before the dead were safely buried in stories, there was a night when the living had to remember what they owed.

If someone comes to the door after dark, do not laugh.

Do not guess.

Do not forget.

Some traditions
do not die.

They wait.

Section VIII — Remember

The old night
is coming back.
